For Immediate Release June 2, 2010 “Autism Awareness Event” ON SATURDAY, July 10th Saturday, July 10th, Zimbrick of Rockford, First Northern Credit Union, 95-3 BOB-FM and various local organizations are teaming up to bring you the Second Annual Autism Awareness Event. Today, 1 in 110 individuals are diagnosed with autism. That is more than AIDS, Pediatric Cancer and Diabetes combined. During this event, experts will provide information about the warning signs, how to cope, and how to treat Autism Spectrum Disorders. Find out about the many resources in the Rockford area including those from Easter Seals and many more! Listen to speakers in the areas of in-home services, health and exercise and behavior analysis. This year’s speakers are: John Pingo M.S., BCBA Board Certified Behavior Analyst with Goldie Floberg Center’s New Horizon Behavior Treatment Program. This program serves children, teens and adults. David S. Geslak, B.S., CSCS Recreation Coordinatorfor Giant Steps, a therapeutic day school for children with autism. This program emphasizes health and exercise. Dianna Poulos, M.A. BCBA Board Certified Behavior Analyst withImpacting Autism, providing in-home services for families with children diagnosed with ASD and Developmental Disabilities. Booths will include: Easter Seals (The Autism Program Service Center, Therapeutic Day School and Family Support Services) Brave Heart/Bergmann – Therapeutic Horseback Riding.
